Regional
Level Science Exhibition 2014-2015
On
22nd January, 2015, our students, Sneha Aggarwal and Nancy Rustagi
of class 10-A, Arwachin International School, got a great opportunity to
participate in the Regional-;level science exhibition held by C.B.S.E. at G.D.
Doenka Public School, Karkardooma.
The
themes of the exhibition were:-
1. Community
Health & Environment
2. Landmarks
in Science & Mathematics
3. Information
& Communication Technology
4. Energy-
Resources & Conservation
5. Transport
6. Waste
Management
Our theme was “Community Health & Environment”.
The main objectives of this area are: to bring awareness among the children
about health and factors affecting our health; to explore new scientific,
technological and bio-medical inventions in prevention and cure; to analyse the
role of self and society in keeping our environment healthy in order to
maintain good health and promote innovative ideas for better management.
The exhibition stretched on for three days and every
day they got an exposure to the tremendous growth in the science sector and rapid
modernization of technology.
Our project was “Preparation of a Low Cost
Nutritious Food” which aimed at reducing malnutrition in India and generating
employment for Indian youth. The ingredients used were ragi and mango seed
kernel, both of which when produced in bulk, are cost-effective and highly
nutritious.
Ninety four schools took part in the exhibition each
of which created a thick aura of science. It is said that “great people are not
the ones who do extraordinary things but, they are the ones who do ordinary
things in extraordinary ways”.
Some exhibits were remarkable. One of such exhibits
displayed was bio-plastic bag made out of biodegradable substance. In addition
to this, there was a squeezy car which was designed in such a way that it could
contract itself in the congested areas in order to ease locomotion and save
fuel. Furthermore, there was one exhibit which was about controlling the
traffic. There were many more like producing herbal medicines to cure diseases.
This exhibition was not only about participating but
also about interacting with complete strangers and getting an exposure to the
outside world. It was a wonderful and a valuable learning experience for he
students.
