Seminar by Ritsumeikan University for Full merit Scholarship

The Japanese language Students of classes 9 to 12 attended a seminar on higher studies in Japan, on 10th December, 2015 at the Japan foundation, New Delhi. The seminar was about the full merit based scholarships offered by Ritsumeikan University specifically to the students with Indian Nationalities (Including tuition fee for 4 years, living expenses and air ticket to Japan).

They briefed our students regarding the two English medium undergraduate programmes currently offered by the university.

1.     The Community and Regional Policy Studies major (CRPS) in the College of Policy Science, focuses on identifying solutions to major issues faced by the society we are living in.

2.      Global Studies major (GS) in the college of International Relations, Students learn to analyze global affairs from a multidisciplinary perspective.

It was a very interactive session as our students not only enquired about the courses offered By Ritsumeikan University but also asked about the living standards and lifestyle of Japan. Students talked at length with the coordinators about their concerns and apprehensions related to their  stay and studies in  Japan.

The students came back motivated and showed immense interest in considering Japan as a prospective destination to pursue their higher studies.

    Lions Quest: Skills for Adolescence

     An International life skill programme for youth, building character and developing life skills for 21st century, was conducted from 3rd to 5th Dec 2015 it was attended by Mrs. Soma Das and Ms. Aditi Sharma. It was a comprehensive youth development and drug prevention programme for young people between 10-14 years of age, which capitalizes on young people's enormous potential and helps direct their creative energies into making them capable, healthy, drug-free and encourage them in developing strong commitment to their families, schools and communities. The programme aimed at bringing together parents, educators and community members to teach young adolescents, life and citizenship skills a consistent environment. It was indeed a help prepare the children to face the changes and challenges of the 21st century. The SFA programme has been recommended by UNICEF, UNESCO and WHO as a part of the school curriculum to impart VALUES to the students.

      1st International Film Festival For Persons with Disabilities.

      Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment along with the NFDC presented the first film festival for persons with disabilities at Siri Fort, New Delhi, from 1st to 3rd December, 2015. The film festival comprised gala screenings of films on disabilities both National and International. Even workshops were held for the children. With this festival, NFDC hopes to create an environment that provides equal opportunities and full participation of the disabled in the society.

      The students of class 5A along with their teachers, Mrs. Priya Grover and Ms. Poonam Batra, got an opportunity to attend the workshop on 2.12.2015. It was on claymation by Ms. Geetanjali Rao.  She navigated the workshop through the art of expressing with lines and colours and making them move. The students were shown various short animation movies. They were provided with the clay boxes and other knick knacks to create their own models based on any story of their choice. Later each group presented them and learnt the art of animating with camera. Three animated movies created by the students were screened.

       It was not only an enjoyable experience for all but also left deep impressions of of art on the minds of the young learners.
