HT PACE ANNUAL TEACHERS’ MEET

Who dares to teach must never cease to learn, said John Cotton Dana, an influential American librarian. A similar mood was witnessed at the annual Hindustan Times-PACE (Partnerships for Action in Education) Teachers Meet at the Hyatt Regency on 29th March, 2016 when more than 650 teachers from schools across Delhi and the NCR along with Mrs. Annapoorna Siddhartha from Arwachin International participated in a learning experience on various issues involving the teenagers of today.

It was a thought-provoking meet for the teachers as various issues such as problems faced by parents and teachers dealing with teenagers at home and in their school and lack of values in children these days. The Guest Speaker, Dr. Anupam Sibal, a noted pediatrician and Group Medical Director, Apollo Hospitals who has recently authored a book on ‘Effective Parenting’ suggested that at least six important values such as humility, forgiveness, determination, joy of giving, patience and gratitude must be inculcated in children right from the early childhood. He quoted examples from the life of Sachin Tendulkar, Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs, Steven Spielberg and others which really ignited the thoughts of the audience thus leaving everyone spell bound.

Over all it was quite an enriching experience.

In the morning session, the resource person, Ms. Murakami discussed about the important elements of making Question Papers for the evaluation of the students. She touched on the minute aspects of the topic, like the  language of  the questions, difficulty level & balance of the questions, printing errors & distribution of the marks etc.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Okuyama shared his experiences & knowledge about the theatrical approach to the Japanese class. He told that it can be helpful for the reinforcement of learning pronunciation & intonation, usage of the vocabulary & grammar  appropriately . Apart from that, the class would become more interactive & interesting by using the theatrical approach.

We are sure that our teaching learning process would be more effective after the seminar. We look forward to such experiences in the future as well.
