 INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC COMPETITION

2016-2017

Music is one of the main art forms that represent Indian Culture. It has such an effect in softening our hearts. It is a well known fact that instrumental music enhances one’s confidence and creativity.

            Students from classes 1 to 5 participated in the ‘INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC COMPETITION’ held on 29 July 2016. The audience was left spellbound as they were transported to the magnificent world of music.

            The competition was judged by Mrs. Yogjyoti, Ms Lochan Tulsi and Mr.Saurav Chaudhary. The participants were judged on 4 aspects :- Confidence, Rhythm, Clarity and Performance.

            The competition began with melodious solo performances followed by duet and group performances by each house. The efforts of the students were really heart touching. Each house showed their mastery over rhythm and taal. All the houses were eager to emerge as victorious but it was Bose House which bagged the first position.

            Though to rate the performance becomes a very difficult task in the face of excellent performances but based on overall efforts the results have been prepared.

    The Hindi Recitation Competition of U.K.G. was held on 27th July16. The children participated with great enthusiasm as it was their first time to perform for Hindi Recitation and performed very well.

     The guest of honour was Mrs. Peter. The honorable judges were Ms. Natasha Sharma, Mrs.Shuchi Mathur, Mrs Bharti. The results were announced by Mrs.Peter.

      CLASSES VII – XII

      26th  july 2016

      Inter House Hindi Drama Competition for classes VII – XII was conducted on 26th July, 2016 to develop the dramatic skills of the students. The participants were selected on the basis of their performance in the drama club activities.

      The plays were as follows:

      BOSE HOUSE: ‘JAAL KA JANJAAL’

      TAGORE HOUSE: ‘SOCH MEIN PARIVARTAN’

      SHASTRI HOUSE: ‘PENSION KI TENSION‘

      TILAK HOUSE: ‘KOMAL HAI KAMJOR NAHI AAJ KI NAARI’

      Shastri House stood first followed by the Bose House, Tilak House and the Tagore House.

       Sarthak Katyayen of class XII-B and Shreyasi of XII-B, were adjudged the best actors (male and female) respectively.

      Last but not the least, our Principal Mrs. Peter spoke a few words of encouragement to the students appreciating them for their hard work.

        Music is a form of entertainment that puts sounds together in a way that people like or find interesting. If man is the best creation of God , then music is the best creation of man. It not only touches our hearts but our souls.

        An Inter House Western Music Competition for Primary Wing was held on 23rd July 2016 in the school auditorium. The participants from Grade I to Grade V put forth their enthralling performances. The competition was adjudged by our talented teachers Ms. Lochan Tulsi, Mrs.Yogjyoti and Mr. Sagar.

        The occasion was graced by the esteem presence of our Principal, Mrs. Gracy Peter. The competition started with solo and duet performances, followed by group performances by each house. The participants sang variety of songs. They came up with melodious voices which in the run attracted the audience. Great support was given from the audience side. All of them sang to the best of their ability. They were applauded by all.

          Dramatization of “Beauty and the Beast”

          Drama leaves a deep impact on the minds of the children. They are able to learn many life skills through it like decision making, problem solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, team spirit and co ordination.

          The students of 5 A enthusiastically enacted the English play “Beauty and the Beast “on 19.07.16. The class was divided into two groups. Each group tried its level best and gave its 100%. The highlight of the day was the props. The learners were innovative in preparing the masks of the beast, costume of the pirates and even the pieces of dialogues deserve appreciation. It was an entertaining and informative session.

            An INTER HOUSE INDIAN MUSIC COMPETITION was held on 19 July 2016. Students of classes 6 to 12 participated in the competition. The students showed great enthusiasm and zeal for the healthy competition .The competition began with the melodious solo performances followed by duet and then group performances of each house.

            With a lot of efforts shown by all the participants, the event marked a huge success and was praised by one and all.

            Based on overall efforts, the results are announced and are attached. The students are expected to take them as a pointer to strive harder to improve further.

              Book fair was organized in Arwachin International School by Scholastic from 11th to 16th July 2016.   The aim of the fair was to inculcate reading habit among the students.There were various books of different categories like encyclopedia, art and craft, Fiction, Academics, General Knowledge etc.

              People of all the ages love stories. Children are great fans of stories and love to listen to them. During this week,   a story telling session was held in the school’s auditorium on 13th july 2016 for classes UKG to 3 by the famous story teller, Mr. Sanjay Mattoo. He is the professor of Mass communication, a film maker, and a dramatist .He  has enough experience in storytelling. The Demon story narrated by him taught the students about the importance of saving trees. It was very easy to encourage the children to protect the trees in the neighborhood. The second story The  poori that ran away was narrated to  classes 2 and 3  students  portrayed how cleverly the old lady ate the poori. The students enthusiasm could be felt. For the students of LKG, a movie of the friendly, red, big, dog Clifford was shown along with the coloring activity. The winners were:

              Geronimo Stilton, the adventurous mouse, captured the imagination of children through Onomatopoeia style of writing. It makes the text come alive. The Students of classes 4 to 6 had an opportunity to use their imagination with color and style. The winners of the activity are:

                A Role Play on the ‘Solar System’ was conducted by class 6- A on 8th July. The students of the class enacted the role of all the members of the Solar System using beautiful props. They participated very enthusiastically. They performed wonderfully exhibiting good acting skills and fluent delivery of dialogues. Their creativity was highly appreciated by the teacher.

                  The Spellwell Competition is held every year in the Arwachin International School to hone the spelling proficiency and pronunciation skills of the students. They learn the different spellings from all the subjects such as, Science, Social Studies, English, Mathematics etc. This year the Spellwell Competition was held on 8th July 2016.  Almost all the students participated in the competition and the finalists were selected on the basis of their merit. The finalists were:

                  It was a tough competition and it was difficult to guess the winning team’s name till the end. However, after a lot of hard work, excitement and enjoyment Tagore House won the competition followed by Bose. Tilak and Shastri secured the third and the fourth positions respectively.

                    On 4th July’16, the Arwachinians participated in an inter-house Essay Writing Competition. All the children, very enthusiastically, took part in the competition. They were given three topics to prepare and one topic was given on-the-spot. The topics were-

                    Class II- How I Protect Mother Nature.

                    Class III- If I would Become the prime Minister

                    Class IV- Teamwork Wins the Game

                    Class V- Cinema Entertains & Educates

                    For class II the word-limit was 80-100 words, while the class III students had to write up to 150-200 words (approx.)
