CLASSES VII – XII

Inter House Hindi Drama Competition for classes VII – XII was conducted on 26th July, 2017 to develop the dramatic skills of the students. The participants were selected on the basis of their performance in the drama club activities.

The plays were as follows:

TILAK HOUSE: JEEEVAN KE BADALTE RANG - KABHI DHOOP, KABHI CHHAYA

SHASTRI HOUSE: ‘SAWACHCHHA JEEVAN, SWASTHA JEEVAN

BOSE HOUSE: ‘JEEVAN EK SANGHARSH

TAGORE HOUSE: ‘RISHTON KI DOR - (SAAS BAHU KE SANG)

Shastri House stood first followed by the Tagore House, Bose House, and Tilak House

 Pranav of class IX-B( BOSE HOUSE) and Pranshi of class of VIII-C (TAGORE HOUSE) and Anshika Sharma VI-A (SHASTRI HOUSE), were adjudged the best actors (male and female) category respectively.

Our Principal Mrs. Peter spoke a few words of encouragement to the students appreciating them for their hard work.

    Western Music Inter-house Competition

    A Western Music Inter-House Competition for classes I-V was held at Arwachin International School on 25 July 2017. The competition commenced with the daily prayer and warm up exercises. The programme was compared by Tanisha of Class VC and Namra of class VD.

    The first round was the solo singing round in which the following students showcased their talents:

    ·        Aditya Dawar (VB) – Tagore house, on the song “Climb”

    ·        Aryan Khera (VD) – Tilak House, on the song “Let me love you”

    ·        Yukti Sharma (VC) – Shastri House, on the song “Climb”

    ·        RaghavTaneja (VA)- Bose house, on the song “ Drag me Down”

    Next in the sequence was the Duet singing round, in which the following students performed:

    ·        Aditya Dawar and KartikKaushik (VB) – Tagore house, on the song “Eye of the tiger”

    ·        Vanshita Raina (VC) and Aryan Khera (VD) – Tilak House, on the song “Drag me down”.

    ·        Rishi Negi (VD) and SatvikBhardwaj (VA) - Shastri House, on the song “Drag me down”.

    ·        Mehvish Jafri and Shrishti Shah (VD)- Bose house, on the song “Cheap Thrills”.

    The last round was the Group singing round in which the performances were lined up in the following sequence:

    ·        The students of Tagore house sang the song “Rolling in the deep”.

    ·        The students of Tilak House sang the song “Zombie”.

    ·        Shastri house gave a group performance on the song “Life is technical”.

    ·        The song “Faded” was sung by the students of bose house.

    Then our respected principal ma’am Mrs Peter came forward and encouraged the teachers and the students for their hard work and efforts. Then she declared the results which were as follows:

    ·        In the solo singing category, Tagore House secured the first position. The second position was bagged by Shastri House. Bose House stood on third position, leaving Tilak House on fourth position.

    ·        In the duet category, the first position was won by Tagore house, second position by Shastri House, third position by Tilak house and the last position went to Bose house.

    ·        In the group singing category, Tilak House bagged the first position. The second position went to Tagore house, and the third and fourth position to Shastri house and Bose house respectively.

    The competition was a great success because of the collaborated efforts of the teachers and the participants. Nobody left any stone unturned to make this competition a success.

      Dramatization provides an opportunity to the students to express themselves as well as to explore themselves. Drama is a great way to learn various life skills like decision making, problem solving, creative thinking and teamwork.

      The students of 3 A enthusiastically enacted the play on the story “The Pied Piper and the Hamelin“. The class was divided into six groups. Each group tried their level best to put forth their best performance. The cute little props prepared by the students made their characters lively. In the process, they also learned about the importance of voice modulation, facial expressions and making an eye contact with the audience. It was a session full of fun and frolic.

        Dramatization is not only enjoyable but provides an opportunity to the students to express themselves. It inculcates the life skills like decision making, problem solving, creative thinking and teamwork among the students.

        The students of class 5 A enthusiastically enacted the story ‘Some Kings can be Cruel’. It was a group activity. Each group tried their level best to put forth their best performance. The creative animal masks prepared by the students added more credibility to their characters. The session was enjoyable and enriching as the story gave them the moral that ’Brains are better than Brawns’.

          Class 5D dramatized the story- ‘Some Kings can be Cruel’ on 24th July, 2017 in the class. The class was divided into two groups for the activity. The students made props related to their characters. Classroom objects were used to create the difference in various scenes. Success criteria were discussed beforehand. The groups were evaluated on the basis of team-work, dialogue delivery, use of props and presentation.

          Both the groups added two new characters and dialogues to showcase their creativity. The purpose of the activity was to enhance the speaking skills and to develop the imaginative bend of the students.

            Drama adds a life to the story.it plays a huge role in building relationship amongst children .They work in a group and support each other.

            The students of 7-A presented the play ‘Ravens to the rescue’on 22.7.17 in the auditorium . The student created their own dialogues and story was presented very confidently . The props of the play were  worth appreciating . The students emoted well.

              Young Maestros  of Arwachin

              Music is sound that has been organized by using melody, rhythm and harmony . It touches our souls. Music not only includes people singing with voices but also playing musical instruments such as tabla, piano, guitar and drums.

              An Inter House Instrumental Music Competition for classes I to V was organized on 20th July 2017 in the school premises..The event was adjudged by our distinguished teachers  Mr.Saurav, Ms.Tulsi and Mrs Yogjyoti.

              Solo, Duet and Group singing were the three categories in which the students competed with each other. The participants won the hearts of the audience as they provided rhythmic performances to them on various instruments The results are as follows:-

               Our respected Principal, Mrs. Peter graced the occasion with her presence. She was thoroughly impressed, the way the students prepared and performed on the stage. She appreciated the efforts of all the participants as well as the teacher. The event was concluded with the National Anthem.

                ARWACHIN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

                Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence.

                The Arwachinians take the roads that lead to success passing through the boulevard of hardwork. 15th July, 2017 was an auspicious day for Arwachin International School as two very vital events were held on this day.

                 Felicitation ceremony was organized for the students of class 12, who have scored above 90%. Each student was awarded with a memento. This was followed by the investiture ceremony. Prof.G.K. Varshney, an eminent educationist, was invited as the chief guest who felicitated the students. The Principal and the teachers stood with their eyes twinkling with great pride as they watched their students being felicitated and the message was clear at that moment that hard work never goes unrewarded.

                The new faces of the student council, who would lead the students of the school, came up. Hitesh Garg and Athira Ajay of class 12 are entitled the Head Boy and Head Girl respectively. Shruthi Rao of class 11 has been chosen as the Secretary of the school. The Sports Captains are Shivam Grover and Gunjan Laspal of class 12. Four House Captains and four Vice House Captains have also been selected from class 12 and class 11 respectively. 14 students from class 11 have been made the Discipline-In-charge. The students were honoured with a badge and a sash. It was a propitious moment as the leaders of tomorrow stood up to take their place and read a sacrament to serve the school with honesty and devotion.

                The event ended with a word of advice by the seniors and motivational words by the Chief Guest and our Principal, Mrs. Peter.

                  The Spellwell Competition is held every year in Arwachin International School to hone the spelling proficiency and pronunciation skills of the students. They learn the different spellings from all the subjects such as, Science, Social  Studies, English, Mathematics etc. This year the Spell Well Competition was held on 11th July 2017.  Every student participated in the competition and the finalists were selected on the basis of their merit. The finalists were:

                  BOSE HOUSE:  Tanisha – VI, Kanchi- VII, Gauri- VIII, Lavanya-IX, Muskan Dhama-X, Soumya Singh-XI, Sakshi Gupta

                  TAGORE HOUSE:  Lavanya- VI, Vedant-VII, Aanya- VII, Manu Rai- IX, Aparna  Goel- X, Shruti Rao- XI, Vanshika Singh- XII

                  There were three rounds in all-

                  1.       Round one- Spell the word

                  2.      Round two- Check your vocabulary

                  3.      Round three- Rapid Fire

                  The performances of the students were astounding and it was difficult to guess the winning team’s name till the end. However, after a lot of hard work, excitement and enjoyment Tagore House won the competition with 379 points followed by Tilak which scored 355 points. Shastri and Bose secured the third and the fourth position with 344 and 305 points respectively.

                    DLSA ( Delhi Legal Services Authority) East,  under its “ Mass Literacy Campaign”,  organized a workshop in our school on 11/07/17  for  the students of class XI. Ms. Payal Raghav, (Adv) Legal Aid Counsel  from  DSLA-EAST, Karkardooma  Court  was the resource person.

                    The Main objective of the workshop was to spread legal awareness among young students  regarding  the importance of the Pre- Conception and Pre- Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act,1994.This Act was enacted by the Parliament to stop female foeticide and to arrest the declining sex ratio in India.

                     It also emphasized  the  role of  DSLA  in providing free and competent legal  service to the weaker sections of the society  to ensure that  justice is not denied to any citizen by reason of economic  or other disabilities. And to organize Lok Adalats  to secure the operation of the legal system promoting justice on the  basis of equal opportunity for all.

                    The students   were motivated and encouraged to spread awareness regarding the concept of free legal aid with their family members and friends as well.

                      The Spell Well Competition of Primary wing of Arwachin International School was held on 10th July, 2017 in the school auditorium. Students of classes 1 to 5 of the houses- Tilak, Tagore, Shastri and Bose participated in the competition. The competition consisted of four rounds. In the first round, the participants were asked to spell the given words correctly. In the next round, they were asked to identify the pictures shown to them and spell them correctly. The third round was the ‘Un-jumble the word’ round. The final round was ‘The Rapid Fire’ round. In this round, the participants had to spell as many words as they could within the specified time.

                      At the end, Tagore House won the competition with 227 marks, followed by Shastri House on the second position scoring 210 marks. Bose House grabbed the third position with 205 marks and Tilak House bagged the fourth position with 162 marks. All the participants put forward their best and participated with great zeal.

                      The competition ended with Mrs. Peter appreciating the effort and hard work of the participants.

                        Arwachin International School organised the English Essay Writing Competition for the students of classes 2 to 5 on 7th July in the school premises. The purpose of the competition was to develop and nourish the young creative minds of the Arwachians. Various topics like- ‘The best thing I like in my school’, ‘A trip to wonderland’, ‘Saving girl child’, ‘The first gift I received’, were chosen according to the level of the students. 

                        The competition helped the students to improve their creative writing skills and imaginative skills. It enabled the students to demonstrate their thoughts, ideas and emotions through words. The students understood that it is important to put our ideas in a proper sequence while keeping the word and time limit in mind.
