An organ donation awareness campaign was launched at Arwachin International School on 5th July 2018 sponsored by Payasuni Charitable Trust and Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Delhi, under the able guidance of Dr. Sandeep Aggarwal.

Life struggles when end stage organ failure sets in. The one hope left for the fellow human beings is organ transplantation. But for transplantation we need organs. Since organs cannot be manufactured in labs, we need to either go for live organ donation or deceased organ donation. Out of the possible options available to us deceased organ donation is the safest of all.

Every year lakhs of people wait to receive organs for their survival. Out of which 1% of people do get organs on time and rest just die waiting for it. This is due to poor organ donation rates in our country (which is 0.8 per million population).

As a responsible citizen, Arwachinians formulated a S2S project on organ donation for checking the current knowledge of the high school students for which they prepared a pre intervention questionnaire. After filling up the questionnaire the students and teachers were imparted knowledge about deceased organ donation. To see the change in the knowledge and mind set of the students, a post questionnaire was also prepared and feedback was taken.

After the end of the seminar, the students and teachers responded very positively. Students were motivated to discuss about the project with their family members. A booklet was provided to the students so that they can refer to it while spreading awareness about the issue.

The main aim of the project is to change the mindset of the future generation.
