AAHWAAN: EMPOWERING EDUCATORS FOR MENTAL WELL-BEING
In light of the rising mental health concerns among students, it has become the need of the hour to equip educators with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to support student’s emotional and mental health effectively. The Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) organized a workshop on the topic “Aahwaan: Empowering Educators for Mental Well-Being” on 22nd February 2025. The workshop was attended by Mrs. Sangita Sharma, Mrs. Surya Laxmi, Mrs. Manisha Sen, Mrs. Arti Tyagi, Mrs. Aafreen Sarfaraz and Ms. Prachi Tyagi from Arwachin International School.
The workshop aimed to bring together educators, mental health professionals, and stakeholders to collaboratively develop a module focused on reducing suicidal tendencies among school-going children and promoting overall well-being.
The event also underscored the critical role that educators play in identifying mental health issues early and fostering a safe, supportive environment within schools. It provided an opportunity for educators to gain practical insights into how they can contribute to preventing mental health crisis among children, including suicide, and promoting long-term well-being.
The workshop was structured into several interactive sessions, including presentations, group discussions, role-plays, and expert talks. These sessions were aimed at helping educators understand the signs of suicidal tendencies in children and develop practical strategies to address them. It gave the teachers essential tools which will serve as excellent resources for educators to implement in their classrooms, ensuring that they are equipped to help students navigate the challenges of adolescence in a healthy, supportive way.
